Payments to HMRC
Time to pay scheme
Who is this for?
This scheme is to support both individuals and businesses that are struggling to settle outstanding taxes.
What will I get?
Arrangements are agreed on a case to case basis with HMRC, support can be given in the form of deferring payments or paying in installments.
How do I apply?
Please call the dedicated helpline on 0800 024 1222.
Payment on account deferral
If you have a payment on account for personal tax due on 31st July 2020 this can be deferred to 31st January 2021.
No applications need to be made for this it is an automatic deferral, no interest or penalties will be charged.
It is also optional so if you can still pay the amount due on 31st July you can still do so.
VAT Payment Deferral
Any VAT payments that are due between 20th March and 30th June have been automatically deferred until 31st March 2021. If you pay by direct debit this will need to be cancelled or it will be taken automatically.
VAT returns still need to be filed and of you have the cash flow we would recommend still paying.
Whilst this is not a government backed scheme you can request a 6 month repayment holiday on your mortgages. Other repayment holidays that you can negotiate are:

You can apply by contacting your lender.
