Changes to the National Minimum Wage


It is important that employers review the pay rates for workers under the age of 25.

From 1st October 2016 the to the following rates will apply:

  • £6.95 per hour for 21-24 year olds

  • £5.55 per hour for 18-20 year olds

  • £4.00 per hour for 16-17 year olds

  • £3.40 Apprentice rate

Workers aged 25 and over are not affected by these changes as the National Living Wage of £7.20 will be revised on 1st April 2017.
